Private 44th Regiment 1759-61

This illustration depicts how the 44th regiment probably looked towards the end of the French & Indian War. The cocked hat has been cut down, the lace removed from his coat, the coat tailes have been cut off and the coat & waistcoat cut short, his gaitors have been replaced by wool leggings, his knapsack has been replaced by an indian style tumpline, his cartridge box & waistbelt have been left behind and his musket has been cut short.

Based on Gen. Amhurst's papers & 44th regt. deserter descriptins.
